Winemaker Story
Anna was born into a family of five in the heart of California in the San Joaquin Valley. After graduating with a Food Science degree from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo, she set her sights on making wine and never looked back. A few harvests and many travels later, she started Bonifacia Wines in 2019. The first vintage of Bonifacia grapes were picked the morning of her 28th birthday - indicating the timing was just right to begin this wine company. She enjoys spending her time with her husband & son in addition to working on her wine business!

CA Shenandoah Valley AVA
This is our very first vineyard partner - growing the grapes to produce our 2019 Old Vine Zinfandel. Located in Plymouth, CA the ranch is 100% dry-farmed and the zinfandel vines are 85+ years old. Bob & Carol Sleeper run the ranch with their children - growing ultra premium wine grapes in Amador County.

Clarksburg AVA
The Heringer family has owned and operated their ranch in Clarksburg since the early 1900’s. Our Chenin Blanc, Teroldego, and Malbec wines are all produced from grapes grown by the Heringer sons. These grapes are grown without the use of herbicides and are certified sustainable - with a focus to create a balanced vineyard ecosystem.

Matt is a winegrower in Ione, CA with an estate ranch planted to multiple Italian & Bordeaux varietals. Our 2022 Primitivo was sourced from his sustainable vineyard - this wine will be bottled in 2026!
Bonifacia: a lifetime created by you
The name Bonifacia is inspired by Anna’s late uncle, Bonifacio. It is an Italian name translating to “lifetime created by you” & perfectly resonated with Anna’s idea to start a wine label from scratch. Bonifacia is a boutique wine company aimed at crafting delicious, approachable, fun wines meant to be shared with your community. Each label is a watercolor design of a quilt from Anna’s grandmother’s collection - she found joy in gathering quilts as Anna finds joy in making wine. Cheers!
